Šibenik

in the Adriatic, 2815. A city of unique character and history with 28 churches
has four fortresses, four wells and it is well hidden in the bay, protected by St
Nicholas fortress.
St. Nicholas, St. Michael ’s, St. John’s,
Šubićevac or Barone are the
names of four fortresses in the city.

renovation. However, Barone and St. Michael fortress are open for visitors.

St. James Cathedral is second world heritage site in Sibenik. A magnificent
cathedral is a Catholic church built in 1536. Juraj Dalmatinac built the
cathedral just with the stone from Brac, Korcula, Rab, and Krk, and without any
single brick or wooden supporting element. Recognizable triple-nave basilica

stone heads on the outside walls. Cathedral is on the UNESCO heritage site
since the year 2000.
Best restaurant in Croatia
Narrow
stone streets are packed with local restaurants, shops, souvenir shops and
cafes. A short walk from the cathedral is Medieval
Mediterranean Garden of St Lawrence Monastery. Monastery has a garden of
Mediterranean herbs, trees, and flowers. A small coffee bar Lovre is inside the Monastery and offers coffee, quick
lunch, and ice-cream.
All
foodies will be happy to hear Šibenik has the best restaurant in Croatia. Two
years in a row Pelegrini restaurant
next to the Cathedral was elected as best place to eat by visitors and critics.
The restaurant has a lovely garden seating, but the best tables are for sure
one on the stairs overlooking Cathedral and bay. Sea Urchin pasta is must try at Pellegrini's. The restaurant scene
is quite old in Sibenik, and the oldest restaurant is Uzorita. A bit outside the city center, just next to the football
stadium, this over hundred years old restaurant serves traditional food, and
high-quality shellfish from private farms.
Šibenik
has one city beach, Banj and it can
be easily reached by foot from the city center. Jadria beach is on the opposite side of the canal, and to get there
you can take a car, or in the summertime, a much better option is to take a
taxi boat from ferry port to Jadria.
A
luxury D-Marina and D-Resort Hotel in the area Mandalina is
short walk from the city centre. D-Marina is the only place in Croatia which
can accommodate yachts and boats over 140 meters, and it is awarded Five Golden
Anchors Award. A hotel has 69 luxury rooms and, six suites and three villas.
South of the city center is a perfect place for family vacation. Solaris Camping and Beach Resort is
equipped with aquapark, restaurants, beach sites and pools for all types of
holidaymakers.
